In this session we will start by watching a Toddler Care Index (TCI) video of a 5-minute interaction between a parent and child. We will use that to continue the discussion about how a child might be using somatic information. We will also use the video as a springboard to explore what less intense self-protective attachment system strategies look like.

In terms of DMM circumplex theory, the most balanced people would plot towards the center of the circle. Whether a primary strategy is A, B, C, blended AC or alternating A/C, more extreme forms of the strategy would plot towards the outer rim of circumplex. (This is one of the strategy dimensions captured by the DMM.) Even if people are using strategies such as A5-6 or C5-6, what do those strategies look like when they are milder in form, that is, closer to center of the circle? We may be able to frame that question up a bit in terms of strategies used by recent US presidents. Please feel free to bring examples to share.
