The DMM is a transdisciplinary model describing in large part human self-protective strategies, including patterns of information processing, in the context of exposure to danger, the need to obtain comfort, and for adults the need to increase opportunities to reproduce. The DMM is formally titled the Dynamic Maturational Model of Attachment and Adaptation. It was founded from the findings of attachment research on both children and adults. The DMM also incorporates many other disciplines such as neurobiology, ethology, sociology, and psychology.
