One-On-One Training, Coaching, Case and Client Assessments

Most lawyers need help to see the patterns and to understand.

Clients hold expectations of their experience that most lawyers aren’t living up to.

In 2016, The American Bar Association E-Report released the results of an extensive survey conducted by the BTI Consulting Group of Wellesley, Massachusetts. BTI concluded clients want 4 things:

  1. Effective communication
  2. Interviewing
  3. Counseling
  4. Basic skills of listening and explaining

Sounds simple in theory, but in practice, providing these four functions can be quite complex. Particularly when afflicted with the condition of being a human being, interacting with other unpredictable human beings.

This breakdown of interpersonal connection was highlighted by an Australian study.

LawCover, Australia’s largest indemnity insurer for lawyers, commissioned a risk management assessment of over two thousand professional liability claims.

The results of the comprehensive report emphasized the importance of the client experience:

  • The most significant cause of professional negligence claims were related to the handling of the client relationship, and not related to the overall outcome of the case.
  • The lawyers did not seem to understand the dynamics of the claims against them.
  • The researchers concluded, most lawyers need help to see the patterns and to understand.
